  • A series of random thoughts projected onto a uncaring (and probably bored and offended) audience via the medium of the printed word.

    Contains strong adult language

I got this box of dvds given to me the other day. This bloke I know was moving house and he had all these copied films and he had stored them all on the hard drive of his computer and wanted rid of the discs so he gave them to me. Good copies mind you. None of your shaky hand-held camera secretly filmed in the cinema shit. Nope, these babies are those DVDRIP DivX copies, copied from the real dvds. Some good titles in there too. The Alien films, the Rockys', some Jim Carrey stuff, a few Chubby Browns, keep me entertained for a while they will. All in all there's roughly fifty films there. But it got me thinking about copied dvds, pirated dvds. Who loses out if I've got illegal copies of these films? Jim Carrey? Poor him eh? Chubby Brown? Fat bastard what he is. Or some rich faceless multi-millionaire Hollywood movie tycoon-type? My heart bleeds. And then I started thinking about pirated copies of Pirates of the Caribbean. Isn't that kind of poetic in some twisted way? Things have come a long way in the piracy stakes of films though. Remember those copied videos you used to buy off that scruffy junky cunt on Kings Street in South Shields who was always on the look out for the Polis? How shite were they? Reservoir Dogs? More like Reservoir Fog! None of that shit now though, not with these DVDRIP's. So in their greed to launch a new platform and make millions re-releasing everything onto dvd that was already out on video the film industry created a monster and now its hitting them where it hurts, i.e. the fucking wallet. So what is their answer? Fucking Blu-Ray! Re-releasing the same shit that was on video that was on dvd onto Blu-Ray. But people have already worked out how to rip Blu-Ray to dvd so I guess these people are fucked! About time to. Hollywood should be despised. That warning they put on before films about 'movie' piracy, that it funds terrorism and organised crime, what a load of absolute shite. My mates lass does copies for me and the money she makes funds Mecca Bingo. Paying your taxes funds terrorism if you ask me. Look how our sick government terrorised the people of Iraq, blowing kids in half and dropping cluster bombs on residential areas. Is that not terrorism? Or can a country not be guilty of terrorism? Just a fictional group like Osama bin Ladens lot? Its like that fucking 9/11, most of the hi-jackers were Saudi Arabian but it was 'terrorists' who attacked America, not Saudi Arabia. And me buying a pirated copy of Pulp Fiction back in the day helped fund the destruction of the Twin Towers somehow? Fucking crock of shit. Next they'll be saying that kicking golden autumn leaves around is harmful to the environment , or that it upsets the trees or some shit. That'll probably explain Weeping Willows then eh?

  • Here we go again, Rules and other bits

Welcome to Writing for Fun the Writing Competition Group.

Here is the second of our seasonal writing competitions, with Autumn all but here what better time to get your thinking caps on and write a lovely Autumn story.

I have amended the original rules taking into account the moans about the word limit this has been raised slightly, also taking into account how the phrase has to be worked in we have kept it simple, well sort of ;)

The idea is that you each write a story that is no more than 500 words long ( we wouldnt want our judges getting bored :)) )

The story must contain the phrase 'Kicking Golden Autumn leaves somewhere within its body.

The competition will be independantly judged by the Brillian Rampart and he is choosing the second judge.

1st Prize is a certificate (of course) and a voucher for the purchasing of books (or DVD's/Music) whichever you desire :)

The competition opens as of 28th September 2008 and closes on the 31st October 2008. Winners will be announced on the 2nd November 2008

This is purely for fun, your entries can be about anything you like as long as it contains the phrase above.

So get writing and enjoy :)

Edit: Your entries need to be posted in here so the judges can read them.
